Bellam Chalimidi Recipe


Rice - 2 cups, soaked for 4-5 hours
Jaggery or sugar - 1 cup
Grated fresh coconut - 2 tbsps
cardamoms - 3
poppy seeds - 1 tbsp


Make a powder of the rice (soaked and drained) and keep it covered.
Heat ghee in a pan and fry coconut pieces.
Then fry poppy seeds also.
Grind cardamoms to fine powder.
Make jaggery syrup of one string consistency and add ghee,
cardamoms powder and the rice powder to it slowly, stirring all the time.
Make sure that no lumps are formed.
Remove from flame and add coconut pieces and poppy seeds.
